Welcome! My name is Nicole Backlund, or Mrs. B. to my students, and I teach art at the Ninth Grade Academy in Trenton, New Jersey. If you want to learn more about me go ahead to the About section and enjoy. The Student Resources page will be updated throughout the semester with different links, videos, and examples for students to use and reference for their assignments. The Student Gallery has artwork created by students and I try to update it after each lesson is finished, there are more pictures on our class Instagram too @trenton_makes_art. Coming soon is a Parent Section for parents to learn ways to help support their artists throughout the semester. Enjoy!
Want to support our classroom? |
If you are interested in supporting my students and their artwork please visit my Donor's Choose website by click the link button and considering donating to a project I have posted or save the link to donate in the future (trust me I'll be posting more!) I am always super appreciative and grateful to anyone that donates to my classroom and my students. I honestly have cried happy tears seeing my projects funded, receiving materials, and giving them to students. It really is like Christmas morning and my birthday rolled into one.
In the past...
During the 2018-2019 school year student artwork was displayed twice at the Trenton Free Public Library in art shows along with other schools in Trenton. I love being able to showcase artwork that my students create and our friends at the Library are absolutely wonderful!
I displayed a painting in the fall at Trenton City Museum in the Garden State Watercolor Society Juried Show. In the spring I had a photograph hanging in the Trenton City Museum's Ellarslie Open 360 exhibit. As an art educator I think it is important to still have a passion for creating art outside of the classroom.
