2020-2021 Artwork:
Semester Two Artwork
Semester two students have been working hard since we have started class and I am really proud of the progress that they are making using Google Drawings. It's amazing how quickly some of them are picking up the different techniques and their artwork is coming out amazing already! I'm looking forward to making more artwork with them before the school year ends. I hope you enjoy what they've created so far.
Animal Styles... Students looked at artwork created by several different artists for this activity. They were able to select which style of artwork they wanted to mimic in their image and what animal they wanted to create. I love when students are able to make decisions for themselves about their artwork. I'm so excited about how they all turned out and how you like them too!
Types of Symmetry... Students learned about three types of symmetry in art and then using Google Drawings had to create artistic representations of each type of symmetry. I love seeing what colors and shapes the students pick for their designs.
Semester One Artwork
Art with a Message... This activity was inspired by a project that the art department is teaming up to create a digital presentation. Students listened to the song and watched the video for "Wake up Everybody" and we looked at artwork that has been created in response to different events happening in the media. Students brainstormed what message they think is important to be heard right now and created artwork to show their messages. I was truly amazed at the ideas that they came up with for this one, I love when my students surprise me.
Surrealism... For this assignments we explored the topic of surrealism viewing artwork by several different artists. Students were able to use their imagination for this activity and create some really unique artwork. Some decided to continue using Google Drawings while others used paper and colored pencils or explored digital art using other programs they had available to them. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
Shepard Fairey Portraits... For this activity students looked at the artwork by graffiti artist Shepard Fairey. We discussed how having a recognizable style is important for an artist and then the students were able to create their portrait. Some students decided to do a self-portrait and I did not post those to keep the privacy of my students. I am really impressed with the artwork that they created, enjoy!
Parts of a picture... For this assignment we started by identifying the three parts of a picture known as the background, middle ground, and the foreground. We then learned about three different types of pictures landscape, seascape, and cityscape. Students were able to pick their type of scene and create it using Google Drawings. The results are spectacular!
Adopt a Style, Adopt an Animal: For this activity students viewed and analyzed animal images created by several different artists, each having their own unique style. Students looked at various shelters and animal sanctuaries in the area and symbolically adopted an animal and then created an image of that animal in one of the styles that we viewed. Watching the TNGA Artists select their animals, the style of artwork, and watching them create their images was really fun to see at their teacher. I hope you enjoy their artwork and hard work! -Mrs. B.
Day of the Dead: Students created artwork inspired by the Mexican holiday Day of the Dead using Google Drawings. Students had the choice of creating a traditional sugar skull, an animal, or a character. Here are the results. Enjoy!
